So much for no plans---

So it turns out my nice relaxing, no plan spring break was yet a dream. It's only Tuesday and I can already see the week slipping away. Yesterday we went a visited Levi's grandparents in Outlook (near Sunnyside). We realized it had been over a year since we had been there and we were long overdue for a visit. His grandparents have an awesome place in the country. The weather was nice so the kids were able to play outside and run around and be as loud as they want. Very similar to our place except there is actually a yard with grass. Jett enjoyed Grandma's decorative frogs that she has around her deck--he enjoyed throwing them as well, fortunately none of them broke. Levi showed off to the girls that he could climb the tree--and they cheered him on.
And I think Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed having the kids around as well. We had a wonderful lunch of KFC--I love their coleslaw!!--and a nice visit. We also were finally able to get some of Grandpa's saws home--he hasn't been able to use them for some time, so he's giving them to Levi, who is quite excited. Now Levi has lot's of ideas for projects since we have the equipment, now we just need a shop to work in, for now our garage will have to work, which meant today we spent time cleaning it out and making a trip to the dump--with several more in the future. I also spent time putting molding around our new floors as well as finishing up a quilt. Then Levi had soccer practice tonight for Kaidyn's team--he is coaching her team, it is quite entertaining since he knows nothing about soccer.
Tomorrow is Wednesday and Levi is taking the girls to see Monsters vs. Aliens (they're having a spring break special) while I try to get lesson plans and grading done--hopefully Jett will nap, otherwise I will have a helper. Levi works Wednesday and Thursday nights. Friday we are making our monthly Costco trip to Wenatchee and then Saturday and Sunday I'm sure we'll be finishing any projects I decide to start the next couple of days. Then it's back to school with 48 days left until summer vacation!! I am sooooooooo ready. Anyway, hopefully I can find some time to relax this week--at least I'm home with my kids.

SPRING BREAK---at last!!!

So this was the looooooongest week e-v-e-r!! I never thought 3:01 would come today (that is the time school gets out). But finally my chairs were up and the bell rang. I am definitely burnt out and ready for a break--and I'm not the only one. The students have been antsy all week--at least the ones at school this week have been. I have had so many students absent due to being sick, that my classes have been awesome sizes (averaging 15-18 students a class). We've had several out with influenza-b, the cold and one with mono. Luckily I have escaped with only a cold--since Wednesday--and so far I'm the only in the family to be sick. Not sick enough to miss school but enough to go to sleep as soon as I got home yesterday until I had to get up and go back to work.
It's kind of nice--we have absolutely zero plans this spring break. Levi has to work a few days so we can't do too much. But hopefully we can get some spring cleaning and yard work done, maybe a trip to the dump, and to the quilt store. I'm just hoping the whether will be nice so we can spend lots of time outside.
Kaidyn had an assembly today where she got to stand up for 50 AR points and also received her Junior Jogger t-shirt. I'm not sure exactly how far she had to "jog" to get it, but she's been working towards it almost the whole school year.
Anyway--I can't believe it almost April--and then May and the girls' birthdays--then June and the end of school--can you tell what's on my mind.
18 days until the Mariners home opener--10 days until their first regular season game!! YEAH!!

Happy St. Patricks Day!!

Hope everyone wore their green today. It's amazing how into holidays middle school kids can get. We had lots of big green hats today and other various green accessories.
Anyway--Today would have been Grandma's 83rd birthday. It was weird waking up this morning and realizing that I didn't have to worry about remembering to call her later. However, I did forget to call Levi's mom to wish her a Happy Anniversary--sorry Gayle--hope you had a good day!!

School Dinners

Thursday night Kaidyn had a "Family Fun Night" at her school. Her class put on a patriotic play and she was Betsy Ross (can't you tell the resemblance). Anyway, she spent weeks memorizing her lines and new them by heart. We practiced speaking loud so the crowd could hear her. Come show time, she read straight from the script and we could barely hear her. It was cute anyway. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera. Luckily Levi had his cell phone, so I took a picture with that and emailed it to myself. How did we ever survive without cell phones, let alone picture phones. Then we enjoyed a lovely school dinner of tacos and cinnamon rolls (who decided those two items went together, at least I didn't have to cook), then we went back to Kaidyn's classroom to make a reading game.
Then last night, a couple of the 8th grade girls put on a "Teacher Date Night" for their passion project. So it was off to my school where the kids were watched by a couple other students, while Levi and I and several other teachers and their spouses had a delightful (quiet) dinner of BBQ chicken breast with salad and rolls and chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert (much better than the taco, and once again I didn't have to cook). The girls also put together a game of Do You Know Your Spouse Jeopardy? It was a combination of Jeopardy and the Newlywed game, where we picked categories and then answered questions trying to match the answers of our spouse. Levi and I had a rough start, missing like the first 4 or 5 answers. But, after that it was smooth sailing and we ended up winning!!! Yeah us!! It was a blast!!

Quilt

Well here it is--my quilt. I've been working on it for about a month, and been thinking about it for much longer. I still have to put the inner and outer border on it, then get the backing and quilt it. But if you had any idea how much thought and processing went into this quilt, you would understand why this is a big idea. I have to say, putting together a quilt is hard with kids climbing all over but I got it done. I made one other quilt a few years back, but this one was more challenging and more fun. Plus I had a better machine to sew it on, that really helped--I got my grandma's sewing machines. The one I used is older than my own, but in much better shape, so it was nice. It was also nice to have something of Grandma's that I will use and remember her.
